August 24th, 2013 - Sanders Takes Over Hunt Point's Lead
1 Rodney Sanders took his #20 Swan Energy/Kimrad Transport/ MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified into battle over the weekend in another triple header with Hunt for the Casey's Cup with the United States Modified Touring Series.

Festivities opened on Thursday night at Valley Speedway (Grain Valley, Missouri), where 36 entries registered for competition. Rodney won his heat race from the 2nd starting spot to move onto the redraw for the $3,000-to-win, 40 lap feature. In the redraw he received the 7th starting spot and went on to race to a 5th place finish behind race winner, Kelly Shryock, Johnny Scott, Jeremy Payne, and Terry Schultz.

Friday evening took the team to Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kansas) for a $5,000-to-win event at the 1/2 mile oval. With 42 entries in the pit area Rodney won his heat race, which again sent him to the redraw for the feature. The redraw presented Sanders with the 5th starting spot for the 35 lap feature. Early in the feature Rodney worked his way to the front of the pack, and would charge past Jeremy Payne on lap 7 to claim the lead. Rodney paced the field until a lap 24 restart, when contact from another competitor forced him up the track. He would recover to finish 3rd behind race winner, Terry Phillips, and Ryan Gustin.

The weekend concluded on Saturday evening at the ultra-fast Salina Highbanks Speedway (Pryor Creek, Oklahoma), where 35 entries looked to make a bid for the $5,000 top prize. Advancing from his 6th starting spot to a 3rd place finish in his heat race sent Sanders to another redraw, where he received the 3rd starting spot. In the 30 lap main event Rodney lurked in the top five throughout the feature before taking the checkered flag in 3rd behind race winner, Jason Hughes, and Terry Phillips.

With another weekend of the Hunt for the Casey's Cup completed Rodney now leads the standings by a single point over Johnny Scott. Full results from the events are available at www.USMTS.com.


August 18th, 2013 - Rodney Sanders Claims 16th Win of 2013
1Rodney Sanders embarked on another week of competition with the Hunt for the Casey's Cup on Wednesday night in his #20 Swan Energy/Kimrad Transport/ MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified with a trip to Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wisconsin) for a $3,000-to-win affair.

A 4th to 2nd performance in his heat race locked Sanders into the 10th starting spot for the main event. In the feature he enjoyed a solid run as he passed five cars to finish 5th behind race winner, Johnny Scott, Dereck Ramirez, Trent Follmer, and Jason Hughes.

Thursday night found the team pitted at Rice Lake Speedway (Rice Lake, Wisconsin) as a $3,000 winner's check was posted. A 5th to 1st run in heat race action sent Rodney to the redraw for the feature, where he received the 2nd starting spot alongside Stormy Scott. Rodney ran in the 2nd spot throughout the feature before finishing second to race winner, Scott.

Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wisconsin) found Rodney Sanders and the Swan Energy Team chasing a $5,000 check on Friday night. With 36 entries on hand Sanders won his heat race before drawing the pole starting spot for the feature. In the main event Sanders ran 2nd to fellow, front row starter, Craig Thatcher early in the race before storming to the lead on lap 25. Rodney led the next eleven laps before Jason Hughes used lapped traffic to slip by with four laps remaining as Sanders had to settle for a 2nd place finish for the second straight night. Stormy Scott, Craig Thatcher, and Lucas Schott rounded out the top five finishers.

Saturday night took Rodney to Ogilvie Raceway (Ogilvie, Minnesota) where 33 cars looked to do battle for the $3,000 top prize. Preliminary action positioned Sanders starting 14th in the feature, and he advanced six spots to finish 8th.

Rodney ended his ultra-busy, five day stretch with a bang on Sunday evening by claiming the $5,000 win at Granite City Speedway (Sauk Rapids, Minnesota) over a field of 30 entries. After advancing from the 6th starting spot to a 3rd place finish in the feature Rodney moved onto the redraw for the feature. In the redraw he was the recipient of the pole position with Jason Krohn joining him on the front row. Krohn jumped to the lead at the drop of the green flag and paced the first five circuits before Sanders took control of the lead on lap 6 and cruised the remainder of the distance to claim the win over Ryan Gustin, Johnny Scott, Chris Brown, and Daniel Hilsabeck. The victory marked his 16th triumph of the 2013 campaign!

August 11th, 2013 - Rodney Sanders Continues the Hunt
1It was an ultra-busy weekend for Rodney Sanders in his #20 Swan Energy/Kimrad Transport/ MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified as he resumed the Hunt for the Casey's Cup with the United States Modified Touring Series.

On Thursday evening action opened under threatening skies at I-35 Speedway (Winston, Missouri) with a $5,000-to-win race that attracted 29 entries to the 1/4 mile, bullring. Rodney won his heat race to move onto the redraw for the feature, where he received the 5th starting spot. In the feature he ran in the top five throughout the race and looked to be on his way to a 4th place finish as he took the white flag. However, the top two runners, Jason Hughes and Jeremy Payne, tangled to bring out the caution. Stormy Scott inherited the lead with Sanders in 2nd. Rodney pressured Stormy for the green-white-checkered finish before settling for a 2nd place finish.

Humboldt Speedway fell victim to rain on Friday night, so the team resumed action at the state-of-the-art, Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Missouri) on Saturday evening. With 45 entries registered for battle Rodney won his heat race from the 3rd starting spot, but would unfortunately draw the 8th starting spot for the feature. With passing being difficult in the feature Sanders would only be able to manage a 9th place finish.

Rainy skies threatened the action on Sunday evening at I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska), but luckily the race would be able to be contested as 32 entries set their sights on the $3,000 top prize. Sanders found himself winning his heat race from the 5th starting spot before receiving the 3rd starting spot for the feature. He would lurk near the front of the field for the duration of the 40 lap finale before crossing the the finish line in 3rd behind race winner, Jason Hughes, and Johnny Scott.

Rodney is currently fourth in the latest Hunt for the Casey's Cup standings, just 41 markers removed from the top spot. Full results from the events are available at www.USMTS.com.


August 2nd, 2013 - Rodney Sanders Begins Hunt for the Casey's Cup
1Rodney Sanders piloted his #20 Swan Energy/Kimrad Transport/ MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified in the opener for the Hunt for the Casey's Cup on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas).

Forty-five entries attacked the 3/8 mile, clay oval, and after winning his heat race from the 2nd starting spot Sanders received the pole position for the $3,000-to-win finale with Jason Krohn joining him on the front row. Rodney challenged for the lead for much of the event before crossing the finish line in 3rd behind race winner, Krohn, and Jeremy Payne.
