February 23rd, 2013 - Sanders Battles Adversity in Night #2 at Royal Purple

1The team took part in the second round of the 4th Annual USMTS Texas Spring Nationals on Saturday night at Royal Purple Raceway (Baytown, Texas) as sixty-nine entries registered for battle in the $6,000-to-win event.

The night started on a rough note for the team as Sanders detonated a motor after crossing the finish line in his heat race. He was unable to make the call for the b-main, and as a result utilized an USMTS provisional to start twenty-seventh on the feature grid for the 40 lapper. He would go on to advance seven spots to record a twentieth place finish at the checkered flag. Full results from the event are available at www.USMTS.com.

February 22nd, 2013 - Sanders Charges to Win in Opener at Texas Spring Nationals
1It's been an incredibly busy start to the season for the team as they've already competed in and won events in Arizona and Florida, and on Friday night Rodney Sanders added his home state of Texas to the list as he topped the opening round of the 4th Annual Texas USMTS Spring Nationals at Royal Purple Raceway (Baytown, Texas).

Sixty-six entries were on hand for the $5,000-to-win event, and an eighth to third run in the first heat race locked Sanders into the eleventh starting spot for the feature. As the main event went green Sanders began racing his way forward through the pack and with eight laps to go he inherited the top spot, when race-long leader, Jason Hughes, broke and never looked back on his way to his sixth win of the 2013 campaign! He was followed across the line by Johnny Scott, Zack VanderBeek, Ryan Gustin, and Randy Timms. Full results from the event are available at www.USMTS.com.

February 18th, 2013 - Mechanical Issues Sideline Sanders in Gator Championship
1The team entered the final round of the Gator Championship on Monday night at Volusia Speedway Park as a $5,000 winner's check was posted for the 30 lap finale. Via his fifth place finish in Saturday night's preliminary feature Sanders locked into the redraw for the finale, and would be the recipient of the third position. He and the Swan Energy team had high hopes for the feature, but mechanical issues in the opening laps sidelined him to a disappointing 28th place finish. Full results from the event are available at www.DIRTCarNationals.com.

February 16th, 2013 - Sanders Locks into Redraw for Gator Championship
Rodney Sanders took his #20 Swan Energy/Swan Racing/MB Customs Open Wheel Modified into battle on Saturday night in his qualifying night for the Gator 1Championship. He started his night by qualifying fastest in his group to earn the fourth starting spot for the third heat race. After advancing to a second place finish he locked into the evening's 20 lap, main event, where he recorded a fifth place finish behind race winner, Jacob Poel, Matt Cooper, Wendell Wallace, and Nick Hoffman. His finish in the preliminary event locks him into the redraw for Monday night's $5,000-to-win finale. Full results from the event are available at www.DIRTCarNationals.com.

February 15th, 2013 - Volusia Unkind to Rodney Sanders on Friday Night
After being sidelined on Wednesday and Thursday night due to Mother Nature the team resumed the 2013 campaign on Friday night during the 42nd Annual UNOH DIRTCar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) with a $1,000-to-win, UMP Open Wheel Modified event. With another staggering field of 82 entries in the pits Sanders started the night on a high note by qualifying fastest in his group. With a four car inversion in place for heat race action Sanders started fourth in the eighth heat, but bad luck would strike as a lap one melee resulted in a left front tire. He was able to stay on the track and salvage a fourth place finish, which left him short of transferring to the feature. He was scheduled to start fourth in a b-main, but made the decision to scratch from the program to save his equipment. Full results from the event are available at www.DIRTCarNationals.com.

February 12th, 2013 - Sanders Bags Opening Night Loot at Volusia
Another first-time visit to a race track and another win for Rodney Sanders as he bagged the opening night win at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) during the 42nd Annual UNOH DIRTCar Nationals in his #20 Swan Racing/Swan Energy/MB2 Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified.

A stellar field of 81 UMP Open Wheel Modifieds registered for action in the $1,000-to-win event, and via time trials Sanders earned the third starting spot for the third heat race. He blazed to the win in the heat to lock into the redraw for the main event. In the redraw he was the recipient of the fourth starting spot. As the main event went green Rodney began working his way forward and staged a great battle with Kyle Bronson for the lead for much of the race. As the race progressed Sanders eventually took control of the lead and went on to claim the feature win. The victory marked the fifth triumph of the season for Sanders and the team. February 10th, 2013 - Sanders Scores Runner Up at Lake City
The team made the last minute decision on Sunday evening to enter a $1,000-to-win, UMP Open Wheel Modified event at North Florida Speedway (Lake City, Florida). Twenty-six competitors entered the event, and Rodney started his outing by winning the third heat race from the pole to lock into the third starting for the 25 lap feature. As the race went green Sanders worked his way into the second spot behind race leader, Kenny Wallace. Rodney pursued Wallace for the duration of the event before settling for a second place finish at the checkered flag. Dave Hess Jr., Nick Hoffman, and Joey Galloway rounded out the top five finishers. Full results from the event are available at www.NorthFloridaSpeedway.com.

February 9th, 2013 - Sanders Finishes Fourth in Finale at Bubba Raceway Park
1Rodney Sanders resumed action at Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Florida) on Saturday night in the $5,000-to-win event for the Open Wheel Modified division. Heat race action found him advancing from the third starting spot to a second place finish to lock into the fifth starting spot for the main event. Unfortunately the feature saw the competitors greeted by a predominantly one-laned track on the bottom, which made passing difficult. As a result Sanders was only able to manage a fourth place finish in the final rundown. Full results from the event are available at www.BubbaRacewayPark.com.

February 8th, 2013 - Rodney Sanders Wins at Bubba Raceway Park

As the race went green Sanders bolted to the lead and never looked back on his way to the feature win, which marked his fourth triumph of the 2013 season.

February 6th, 2013 - Rodney Sanders Launches Brand New Website
Rodney Sanders is the newest addition to the MSR Mafia Team and has launched a brand new website here at www.RodneySandersRacing.net. Rodney hails from Happy, Texas and pilots the #20 Swan Energy/Kimrad Transport/MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified at events across the nation. For the 2013 season he also plans to make several Super Late Model starts as he continues to expand his driving career.

While it's just early February Sanders is already full-bore into the 2013 season with three wins under his belt. The victories came during the inaugural Winter Extreme at Tucson International Raceway (Tucson, Arizona) in mid-January. He debuted his brand-new MB Customs Open Wheel Modified with wins in the first three rounds. He battled the handle for the next two rounds before closing out the six race series with a second place finish to Jason Krohn. He also made his first-ever Super Late Model start the weekend before during the opening round of the 7th Annual Wild West Shootout at Central Arizona Raceway (Casa Grande, Arizona) in Jason Krohn's #7k MB Customs Super Late Model. He started the night by impressively winning his heat race and looked to be a contender for the win before mechanical issues late in the race relegated him to a fifth place finish.

The team now turns its attention to Florida Speedweeks and will begin action with a tripleheader at Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Florida) on February 7th-9th before moving to Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) for the UNOH DIRTCar Nationals, which will be held February 13th-19th.
