November 16th, 2013 - Sanders Competes in Winter Nationals at Baytwon
1Swan Energy Racing and Rodney Sanders entered the opening round of the 7th Annual Lecolift Texas Winter Nationals on Thursday evening at Royal Purple Raceway (Baytown, Texas) as a talented field of 64 entries took aim on the $2,000 top prize in the USMTS sanctioned event.

A 2nd place finish in his heat race left Sanders just short of locking into the feature, and as a result he was forced to run a b-main, which he won to earn the 17th starting spot on the grid for the finale. Despite starting deep in the pack Rodney advanced eleven spots in the feature on his way to a 6th place finish behind race winner, Clyde Dunn Jr., Zack VanderBeek, Steve Whiteaker Jr., Stormy Scott, and Kelly Shryock.

Friday night's event saw the winner's check increased to $3,000 as 63 racers returned for competition on a night that would see Sanders falling just short of claiming the victory. Rodney started his night by winning his heat race from the 3rd starting spot, which sent him to the evening's redraw for the 40 lap finale. After receiving the 4th starting spot for the feature, Sanders quickly worked his way forward to the 2nd spot early in the feature, and stalked the leader, Zack VanderBeek until lap 23, when he jumped to the lead. The battle for the top spot would be far from over though as over the next several laps the duo swapped the top spot. Rodney appeared to be on his way to victory until a late-race restart allowed VanderBeek to shoot past for the lead with just four laps remaining, and Chris Brown would also soon find his way past Sanders as he was forced to settle for a 3rd place finish.

On Saturday evening the winner's check was increased to $4,000, and the team had high hopes of closing the season with a triumph. While the night started well, the ending would be not so great. Sixty-two competitors returned to the oval for the final event of the weekend, and a win in his heat race since Sanders to the redraw for the feature, where he received the 2nd starting spot alongside pole sitter, Bryan Rowland. Unfortunately for Sanders his luck quickly took a turn for the worst on the opening lap, when he was collected in a melee that ended his outing in the 26th position.

November 2nd, 2013 - Rodney Sanders Wins Scotty Lawson Sport Mod Shootout
1Rodney Sanders turned a rare start in a Sport Mod into his seventeenth triumph of the 2013 season over the weekend with a victory in the inaugural Scotty "Bobby" Lawson Memorial at Southern Oklahoma Speedway (Ardmore, Oklahoma).

The $3,000-to-win event drew a solid field of 40 entries to the 3/8 mile oval, and in preliminary action Rodney charged from the 7th starting spot to score the win on Friday night, which locked him into the 11th starting spot for Saturday night's finale.

Despite starting deep in the pack Sanders wasted little time working his way through the field, and he would take the lead by lap 20. Once out front he never looked back on his way to the win, which came over Bo Day, Travis Johnson, Dustin Robinson, and Chad Jones.
