September 28th, 2013 - Rodney Sanders Makes Knoxville Debut
1Rodney Sanders made his debut trip to the famed Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa) over the weekend for the 10th Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals at the 1/2 mile oval.

Seventy-two Super Late Models entered the program, and via tie trials Sanders earned the 2nd starting spot for his heat race. As the race went green he jumped to the lead and paced the first several laps before a mechanical failure forced him pitside. The team made repairs for consolation event action, and while Sanders raced to a transfer spot to the B-main his night would end there as he failed to reach a transfer spot to the main event.

Another $7,000-to-win, preliminary program was held on Friday night at Knoxville Raceway as the team looked for better luck. With 70 entries in the pits Rodney earned the 4th starting spot for his heat race via qualifications. On the 2nd lap of the heat he jumped to the lead and paced the event until a late-race restart, when he jumped the cushion and slipped to a 3rd place finish. His finish locked him into the 13th starting spot for the feature. The 25 lap finale found him receiving damage during an early race melee, and the damage would ultimately force him to retire to an 18th place finish.

Via his performances on the preliminary nights Rodney locked into the 5th starting spot for the B-main on Saturday night. With the top six finishers transferring to the feature Sanders would unfortunately jump the cushion early in the B-main, which shuffled him deep into the field. He would be unable to rebound into a transfer spot to the feature as his weekend came to an early end.

September 21st, 2013 - Sanders Claims USMTS National Championship
1 The finale event in the Hunt for the Casey's Cup with the United States Modified Touring Series began on Thursday night and ultimately concluded on Friday evening with the opening round of the 15th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota), and Rodney Sanders raced his way to his first USMTS National Championship!

The mega-event opened on Thursday evening after being delayed a few hours by rain with 89 entries registering for battle in the $3,000-to-win event. Sanders entered the evening just 8 points removed from the top spot. A 3rd to 1st run in his heat race resulted in Rodney being the second highest points earner on the evening. However, before the redraw and feature could be contested curfew restrictions forced the completion of the program to be postponed until Friday evening.

Rodney received the 3rd starting spot for the 40 lap feature, and he would battle at the front of the pack, even briefly leading, before settling into a 2nd place finish behind race winner, Ryan Gustin. His performance in the feature was enough to earn Sanders his first-career, USMTS Championship!

Friday night found a $4,000-to-win, USMTS event being contested with 90 cars in the pits. After storming to the win in his heat race Rodney earned the 4th starting spot for the feature. Unfortunately his night came to an abrupt early end on lap 9, when he slowed with mechanical issues to a 23rd place finish.

The Fall Jamboree finale was held on Saturday evening as a $6,000 winner's check was posted for the 60 lapper. Preliminary action resulted in Sanders starting 9th in the feature, and during the course of the 60 lapper Rodney advanced six spots to finish 3rd behind race winner, Rodney Sanders, and Terry Phillips.

Rodney raced in the top five throughout the feature before crossing the finish line in 3rd behind race winner, Brad Waits, and Brandon Davis.

September 1st, 2013 - Sanders Enters Hunt Home Stretch
1 The Hunt for the Casey's Cup with the United States Modified Touring Series found Rodney competing at Cedar County Speedway (Tipton, Iowa) on Thursday night in a $5,000-to-win affair. Twenty-nine entries took part in the program, and after finishing 2nd in his heat race Sanders moved onto the redraw for the feature, where he received the 4th starting spot. He raced in the top five throughout the main event before crossing the finish line 5th in the 40 lap affair behind race winner, Ryan Gustin, Jason Hughes, Johnny Scott, and Zack VanderBeek.

Friday night took Rodney to Chateau Raceway (Lansing, Michigan), where he hoped to take a stab at the potential $8,600-to-win finale that Brew Pub Pizza made possible. The evening started on a promising note as Sanders earned the 6th starting spot for the feature via preliminary action. He ran in the top ten for the first half of the feature before contact from another competitor caused him to spin. Rodney was able to rejoin the tail of the field, but was only able to manage to rebound to a 13th place finish.

On Saturday evening Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) played host to the Hunt for the Casey's Cup, and Rodney's night started slowly as heat race struggles sent him to a b-main. Sanders raced to a 4th place finish in his b-main to lock into the 19th starting spot for the 40 lap, $5,000-to-win finale. The feature found Rodney kicking things into high gear as he passed ten cars to finish 9th, which earned him the Mesilla Valley Transportation Hard Charger Award.

The ultra-busy weekend drew to a close on Sunday evening at Cresco Speedway (Cresco, Iowa) with a $3,000-to-win slugfest. Twenty-five entries took to the oval, and a 5th place finish in his heat race positioned Sanders starting 10th in the finale. During the course of the 40 lapper Sanders raced to a 3rd place finish behind race winner, Jason Hughes, and Ryan Gustin.

In the Hunt for the Casey's Cup Rodney currently resides in the third position, just 8 points out of the lead with just one event remaining. Full results from the events are available at www.USMTS.com.
