July 29th, 2016 - Top Five Finish for Sanders in Late Model at Fayette County

July 23rd, 2016 - Sanders Wins Seventh Straight Silver Dollar Nationals
1Pulling double duty, Rodney Sanders headed to I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska) on Friday night for opening round action of the 6th annual Silver Dollar Nationals. In a field of 44 United State Modified Touring Series (USMTS) competitors, Sanders charged through the field eight positions in his first heat race, landing a runner-up finish behind Austin Siebert. Starting in 2nd for his next heat race, Rodney cruised to a heat race victory. The cumulative performance of his two heat races made him the high point driver for preliminary action, which locked him into Saturday night’s pole dash.

1On Friday evening he also competed in the Cubby’s Chase Race, which was an all-star invitational race for the USMTS competitors. He drew the 10th-starting spot for the special event. With $1,000 on the line, Sanders gained six spots in the 24-lapper, posting a 4th-place finish behind Jason Hughes, Johnny Scott, and Cade Dillard with Mason Big Eagle coming in 5th.

During the same night in two more rounds of heat races in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS), Rodney logged a 7th-place finish in his first event. Placing 2nd in his next heat behind Billy Moyer, Sanders would have one more opportunity at the $40,000-to-win A-Main on Saturday with a B-Main appearance. Landing a runner-up finish behind Tyler Erb, Rodney secured his spot into the 80-lap finale.

1Looking to capture his seventh straight Silver Dollar Nationals win in the USMTS on Saturday night, Rodney finished 2nd in the pole dash, which locked him into the outside-front-row starting spot for the 42-lap finale. Battling for a $5,000 payday in the Casey's General Stores A-Main, Rodney Sanders outdueled good friend Jason Krohn to pick up his ninth win of the season with Krohn, Cade Dillard, Jason Hughes, and Terry Phillips rounding out the Top 5.

Slated to start 21st for the LOLMDS Silver Dollar Nationals later that night, Sanders fell back to a 29th-place outing in the feature after bringing out a caution on lap 28.

July 16th, 2016 - Rodney Sanders Wins in Modified at Dodge County Speedway
1Returning with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series (WoO), Rodney Sanders visited Ogilvie Raceway (Ogilvie, Minnesota) on Wednesday night. With twenty-nine cars signed in, Sanders placed 4th in is heat securing an 11th place starting spot for the feature. Battling for a $10,000 payday, Rodney broke into the top ten improving two positons in the 50-lapper recording a 9th place finish.

1Competing in his Open Wheel Modified the following night, Rodney headed to Dodge County Speedway (Kasson, Minnesota) on Thursday for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned event. With twenty-six entries on hand for the Northern Region event presented by Day Motor Sports, Sanders scored a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Josh Angst setting him up with a 5th place starting spot for the $3,100-to-win main event. Storming to the front, Rodney Sanders picked up eight win of the season with Jason Cummins, Brandon Davis, Cade Dillard, and Jason Hughes trailing him across the finish line in the 12th Annual Stars & Stripes Shootout A-Main. 1On Friday night in a field of twenty USMTS Modifieds at Fayette County Speedway (West Union, Iowa), Sanders improved two spots in his heat placing 4th. Earning a 10th place starting position for the feature, Rodney worked his way up to a 4th place finish behind Zack VanderBeek, Cade Dillard, and Jason Hughes with Stormy Scott coming in 5th.

Wrapping up the busy weekend, Sanders stopped at I-35 Speedway (Winston, Missouri) on Saturday night for the USMTS sanctioned 8th Annual Seeburg Mufflers Missouri Meltdown. Starting in 5th in his heat, Rodney gained three spots scoring a runner-up finish behind Cade Dillard. With $3,000 on the line in the feature, Rodney Sanders held his 5th place starting spot for all 42-laps finishing behind Jason Hughes, Jesse Sobbing, Cade Dillard, and Matt Dotson.

July 9th, 2016 - Sanders Competes in Both Divisions at Deer Creek Speedway
1Behind the wheel of his Super Late Model, Rodney Sanders made the trip to Hamilton County Speedway (Webster City, Iowa) on Thursday night for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series sanctioned show. In a field of twenty-five cars, Sanders edged his way into the main event with a 6th place outing in his heat. Battling for a $8,000 payday in the feature, Rodney suffered a flat-tire with 5-to-go in the 40-lap A-Main resulting in an early ending.

On Friday night Rodney was one of twenty-seven cars signed in at Mason City Motor Speedway (Mason City, Iowa) for the WoO sanctioned Wild West Tour event. Placing in 5th in his heat, Sanders earned a 13th place starting position for the 50-lap feature. With $10,000 on the line, Rodney Sanders fell back to a 22nd place outing.

1Pulling double duty on Saturday, Sanders was piloting his Super Late Model and Open Wheel Modified at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota). Drawing thirty-six Super Late Models for the NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50 A-Main, Sanders recorded a 3rd place finish in his heat setting him up with a 11th place starting spot for the $11,000-to-win feature. July 2nd, 2016 - Sanders Wins Freedom Classic at Salina Highbanks Speedway
1Running with the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) and the MARS DIRTcar Series, Rodney Sanders visited Salina Highbanks Speedway (Salina, Oklahoma) on Saturday night for the 3rd Annual Freedom Classic. Earning a 3rd place starting spot for the feature via preliminary results, Sanders parked his #20 Swan Energy/MB Customs Super Late Model in victory lane at the end of 40-lap A-Main. Inheriting the top spot when race-leader Will Vaught pulled off due to a flat-tire, Rodney held on for the remaining 14 laps to pick up his first Super Late Model victory of the season and seventh overall. Pocketing a $5,000 payday, Sanders was trailed by Jesse Stovall, Tad Pospisil, Terry Phillips, and Austin Siebert across the finish line. (Ron Mitchell Photo)
