August 27th, 2017 - Sanders Returns to USMTS Victory Lane at Nobles County Speedway
1On Thursday night Rodney Sanders was one of 23 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entries on hand at Nobles County Speedway (Worthington, Minnesota) for the 7th annual USMTS Summer Slam presented by Pace Performance. Improving three positions in his heat, Sanders posted a 3rd place finish earning him the 4th-starting spot for the 40-lap feature. Inheriting the lead on lap 12 after the leader blew a tire, Sanders held off the field in the remaining 28 circuits registering his seventh win of the season over Cade Dillard, Jake O’Neil, Ryan Gustin and Dereck Ramirez. He was awarded a $3,000 payday for his efforts.

1For the eleventh stop of the Hunt for the Casey’s Cup, Sanders traveled to Rapid Speedway (Rock Rapids, Iowa) on Friday evening for the 7th annual USMTS Rapid Rumbles presented by Casey’s General Stores. Passing three cars in his heat, Rodney recorded a 3rd place finish positioning him 3rd on the starting grid for the $5,00-to-win A-Main. 1Following a rainout on Saturday night at Park Jefferson Speedway (North Sioux City, South Dakota), Rodney wrapped up the weekend on Sunday at Casino Speedway (Watertown, South Dakota) on Sunday for the 2nd annual Sandy Benson Memorial presented by Riddle’s Jewelry and Jurgens Printing. Moving up one spot in his heat, Sanders landed a runner-up finish behind Zane DeVilbiss locking him into the 9th-starting position for the feature. Breaking into the Top 10, Rodney Sanders gained four positions notching a 5th place finish behind Ryan Gustin, Stormy Scott, Cade Dillard, and Tim Johnson.

August 20th, 2017 - Rodney Sanders Wins Grant Junghans Memorial at Lakeside
1Rodney Sanders returned with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on Thursday night for the seventh round of the Hunt for the Casey’s Cup presented by S&S Fishing & Rental at Pepsi Scotland County Speedway (Memphis, Missouri). Moving up two spots in his heat race, Sanders scored a 3rd place finish positioning him 10th on the starting grid for the opening night feature. Passing one car in the 40-lap affair, Rodney posted a 9th place outing.

1The following night traveling to Lakeside Speedway (Lakeside, Kansas), Rodney was one of 76 USMTS competitors on hand for the second annual Grant Junghans Memorial. Streaking through the field eight spots in his heat, Sanders landed a 2nd place finish behind Stormy Scott earning him the 7th-starting position for the A-Main. Taking control of the lead by lap-18, Rodney held off Jason Hughes late to capture his sixth win of the season and a $10,000 payday. Rodney rounded out his USMTS weekend with a 20th-place finish at Salina Highbanks Speedway (Pryor Creek, Oklahoma) on Saturday and a 5th-place finish 81 Speedway (Park City, Kansas) on Sunday.

August 13th, 2017 - Pair of Top 5 Finish With Corn Belt Clash Series in Iowa
1Monday night found Rodney Sanders return to the Super Late Model ranks for the Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series event at Farley Speedway (Farley, Iowa). With 19 Super Late Models on hand for the $10,000 top prize, Sanders timed in seventh fastest in qualifying before placing 3rd in his heat race. Rolling off 8th for the feature, Rodney passed five cars in the 50-lapper posting a 3rd place finish behind Spencer Diercks and Shane Clanton with Chad Simpson and Justin Kay completing the Top 5 finishers.

1The following night Sanders headed to West Liberty Raceway (West Liberty, Iowa) competing in a field of 16 Corn Belt Clash entries. After coming in eighth fastest in time trials, Rodney landed a 4th place finish in his heat race positioning him 10th on the starting grid for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. 1Friday night brought Rodney to Junction Motor Speedway (McCool Junction, Nebraska) for a pair of the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) sanctioned events. In a field of 21 cars, Rodney secured his spot into the $3,000-to-win opening night feature with a 3rd place finish in his heat. After challenging for the lead late in the race, Sanders slipped back to a 5th place finish when the checkered flag flew trailing Tad Pospisil, Terry Philips, Randy Timms, and Corey Zeitner across the finish line. 1Returning on Saturday night for the $5,000 top prize, Sanders landed a 4th place finish in his heat race locking him into the King of Hill A-Main. Battling for the top spot late in the A-Main, Rodney made contact with the leader in the closing laps that dropped him back to a 11th place outing.

1On Sunday night Rodney hopped behind the wheel of his Open Wheel Modified for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned program at Mason City Motor Speedway (Mason City, Iowa). Following a 4th place finish in his heat race, Sanders secured his spot into the $3,000-to-win A-Main with a runner-up finish in his B-Main behind Cade Dillard. Rolling off 15th, Rodney Sanders dropped one position to place 16th.

August 5th, 2017 - Sanders Begins Hunt for Casey's Cup at Springfield Raceway
1Kicking off the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Hunt for the Casey’s Cup powered by S&S Fishing & Rental, Rodney Sanders was one of 45 Open Wheel Modifieds signed in at Springfield Raceway (Springfield, Missouri) on Thursday night. Passing two cars in his 8-lap heat, Sanders charged to a heat race victory positioning him 5th on the starting grid for the feature. Breaking into a podium spot, Rodney landed a 2nd place finish behind Tyler Wolff with Ryan Gustin, Jake Timm, and Jackie Dalton completing the Top 5 finishers.

On Friday night Sanders visited Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas) for the $5,000 top prize. Moving up one spot in his heat race, Rodney recoded a 2nd place finish behind R.C. Whitwell earning him the pole position for the feature. Hanging on to a Top 5 finish, Rodney Sanders posted a 4th place spot behind Stormy Scott, Chris Brown, and Jason Hughes with Ryan Gustin coming in 5th.

1After Mother Nature wiped out Saturday’s USMTS event at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Missouri), Rodney traveled to Caney Valley Speedway (Caney, Kansas) for the MARS DIRTcar West Series sanctioned event. Laying down the sixth fastest time in a field of 23 Super Late Models, Sanders earned the 6th-starting position for the James House Memorial A-Main. Bringing home a Top 5 finish, Rodney Sanders jumped up two positions in the 40-lapper notching a 4th place finish behind Tony Jackson Jr., Jacob Magee, and Payton Looney with Mason Oberkramer coming in 5th.
