February 25th, 2017 - Sanders Places in Top 5 in Late Model at DIRTcar Nationals
1On Monday night Rodney Sanders jumped behind the wheel of his Super Late Model for the UMP DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida). Drawing 43 cars, Rodney fell back to a 8th place finish in his heat sending him into the B-Main. Transferring the Top 4 into the opening night A-Main, Sanders came one position short with a 5th place outing.

1Starting Tuesday evening off by laying down the second fastest time in his qualifying group behind Donny Schatz, Rodney went to capture an 8-lap heat race win sending him into the redraw. Receiving the 5th-starting position for the $7,000-to-win main event, Rodney Sanders held his position for all 30-laps notching an impressive 5th place finish behind Brandon Sheppard, Shane Clanton, Brian Shirley, and Darrell Lanigan. 1With persistent rain in the area cancelling both Wednesday and Thursday night’s events, Rodney was one 48 Super Late Models signed in on Friday for the final two World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series shows. Taking the Top 3 out of the heats, Rodney scored a 4th place finish putting him on the pole of his B-Main. Cruising to a 10-lap consolation win, Sanders earned the 19th-starting position for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Passing seven cars in the fog-shortened A-Main, Rodney Sanders reeled in 12th place finish in the 23-lapper.

Closing out the 46th annual DIRTcar Nationals on Saturday, Sanders came one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a 4th place finish. Needing to place in the Top 3 in his B-Main to make the show, Rodney got turned around on the very first lap sending him to the tail. Deciding to call it a night, Sanders withdrew early from the 10-lap consolation event.

February 18th, 2017 - Rodney Follows USMTS to Shady Oaks Speedway
1Rodney Sanders returned with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on Thursday night at Shady Oaks Speedway (Goliad, Texas) for the second round of the Summit Racing Southern Region presented by Production Jars. Starting on the pole of his heat, Rodney slipped back to a 4th place finish sending him into the B-Main. Needing to place in the Top 5 to make the show, Sanders landed a runner-up finish behind Dereck Ramirez. Rolling off 15th for the opening night feature, Rodney dropped back to a 22nd place outing.

The following night starting 7th in his heat, Sanders logged a 5th place finish giving him one final shot at the main event with a B-Main appearance. Taking the Top 5, Rodney wheeled his way up to a 2nd place finish behind Phil Dixon. Earning the 16th-starting spot for the $3,000-to-win feature, Rodney Sanders advanced eight spots in the 35-lapper to place 8th.

On Sunday starting near the tail of his heat race, Sanders posted a 6th place finish sending him into the consolation event. Charging to a 10-lap B-Main win, Rodney earned the 13th-starting spot for the $4,000-to-win finale. Breaking into a podium spot, Rodney Sanders soared through the field 10 positions notching a 3rd place finish behind Cade Dillard and Ryan Gustin with Zack VanderBeek and Johnny Scott completing the Top 5 finishers.

February 11th, 2017 - Sanders Competes in USMTS Opener at Cotton Bowl Speedway
1Behind the wheel of his Wichita Tank Racing #20 Open Wheel Modified, Rodney Sanders visited Cotton Bowl Speedway (Paige, Texas) on Thursday night for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) season opener. In a field of 42 cars, Sanders secured his spot into the opening night feature with a runner-up finish behind J.P. Dowell in his heat. Starting in 6th for the $2,000-to-win A-Main, Rodney dropped back to a 23rd place outing.

On Friday night Sanders placed 5th in his heat sending him into the B-Main for another shot at the A-Main. Taking the Top 6, Rodney edged his way into the show with a 4th place spot. Dropping four positions in the 40-lap A-Main, Sanders logged a 23rd place finish again.

Wrapping up the Summit Racing USMTS Southern Region presented by Production Jars opening round on Saturday, Rodney registered a 6th place finish in his heat giving him one last shot at the finale with a B-Main appearance. Advancing five positions in the 15-lap consolation event, Sanders locked his spot into the finale with a 2nd place finish behind Ricky Thornton Jr. With $5,000 on the line, Rodney Sanders improved eight positions in the 50-lapper posting an 8th place finish.
