July 22nd, 2017 - Runner-up Finish in Modified at Silver Dollar Nationals
1On Tuesday night Rodney Sanders returned with the Lucas Oil Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) traveling to Brown County Speedway (Aberdeen, South Dakota) for the Bullet Sportswear Shootout which was also sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS). 1Friday night brought Rodney to I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska) pulling double duty for the 7th annual Silver Dollar Nationals. Drawing 43 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entries for the two-day event, Rodney improved two spots in his first heat race recording a 4th place finish. Starting in 3rd in his second heat, Sanders jumped up one position to place 2nd behind Lance Town. Earning the 11th-starting position for the $1,000-to-win Pole Dash, Rodney reeled in a 7th place finish positioning him 7th on the starting grid for the main event on Saturday night.

1In the Super Late Model division for the event sanctioned by both the Lucas Oil Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS), Sanders secured his spot into the $53,000-to-win A-Main on Saturday with a 5th place finish in his first heat and 10-lap heat race victory in his second round. With $10,000 on the line in the USMTS A-Main, Rodney Sanders charged through the field five spots posting a runner-up finish behind Ryan Gustin with Cade Dillard, Zack VanderBeek, and Dereck Ramirez completing the Top 5 finishers.

July 15th, 2017 - Sanders Gains 13 Spots in CMH Diamond Nationals at Lucas Oil
1Wednesday night brought Rodney Sanders to Ogilvie Raceway (Ogilvie, Minnesota) returning with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series. Improving three spots in his heat race, Rodney posted a 5th place finish positioning him 11th on the starting grid for the feature. With $8,000 on the line, Sanders dropped one spot in the 40-lapper to place 12th.

The following night with 33 Super Late Models signed in at Hibbing Raceway (Hibbing, Minnesota) for the $8,000-to-win A-Main, Sanders fell back to a 6th place finish in his heat race giving him one final shot at the A-Main with a B-Main appearance. Sending the Top 3, Rodney fell short with a 8th place outing.

1After taking Friday off to travel, Rodney was one of 37 Super Late Models signed in at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Missouri) on Saturday night for the event co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS). Taking the Top 4 out of the heats, Rodney logged an 8th place outing transferring him into the B-Main. Failing to place in the Top 3, Sanders was granted a Lucas Oil MLRA provisional in the CMH Diamond Nationals A-Main. July 8th, 2017 - Rodney Sanders Wins in Modified at Deer Creek Speedway
1Pulling double duty behind the wheel of both his Super Late Model and Open Wheel Modified, Rodney Sanders visited Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) on Saturday night. With 36 World of Outlaw Craftsman Late Model Series entries on hand for the Bigelow Homes Gopher 50, Rodney followed up the second fastest time in his qualifying group with a heat race victory. Earning the pole position for the $10,000-to-win A-Main, Sanders fell five spots in the 50-lapper to place 6th.

1During the same night in a field of 41 USRA Modifieds, Sanders led the night off with a heat race win positioning him on the pole for the feature. Jumping into the lead on the drop of the green flag, Rodney Sanders led wire-to-wire capturing his fifth win of the season over Jason Cummins, Zack VanderBeek, Cory Mahder, and Keith Foss.

July 3rd, 2017 - Sanders Ends Fourth of July Weekend With Hell Tour at Quincy
1On Friday night Rodney Sanders was one of 22 Super Late Models signed in at Salina Highbanks Speedway (Pryor Creek, Oklahoma) for the two-day Buddy’s Home Furnishings Freedom Classic sanctioned by both the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) and the MARS DIRTcar West Series. Following the fastest time overall in qualifying, Sanders slipped back to an 8th place outing in his heat race positioning him 22nd on the starting grid for the feature. 1During the same night in the Open Wheel Modified division, Sanders secured his spot into the Bash Before the Cash A-Main with a 2nd place finish in his heat race behind R.C. Whitwell. With $1,500 on the line, Rodney improved two spots scoring a 4th place finish behind Jason Hughes, R.C. Whitwell, and Terry Phillips with Mickey Lassiter coming in 5th.

1Returning on Saturday for the $5,000 top prize, Rodney secured his spot into the feature with a 2nd place finish in his heat race behind Terry Phillips. Earning the 4th-starting position for the A-Main, Sanders fell two spots in the 40-lapper registering a 6th place outing.

Back behind the wheel of David Tanner's #25 Open Wheel Modified on Saturday night, Rodney started the night off with a heat race win locking him into the 4th-starting spot for the $2,500-to-win A-Main. Breaking into a podium spot, Rodney reeled in a 2nd place finish behind Tyler Wolff with Terry Phillips, Chad Wheeler, and Mitch Keeter completing the Top 5 finishers.

1On Sunday night Sanders headed to Monett Speedway (Monett, Missouri) for the MARS DIRTcar West Series sanctioned Tony Roper Memorial. Laying down the second fastest time overall in qualifying, Rodney earned the 2nd-starting spot for the feature after officials decided to eliminate heat races with threatening weather in the forecast. After blowing a tire in the opening laps, Sanders battled back from the tail of the field scoring a 9th place finish.

1Monday night saw Sanders stop at Quincy Raceway (Quincy, Illinois) for the 16th stop of the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals Hell Tour. After timing in fourth fastest in his group, Rodney recorded a 3rd place finish in his heat race locking him into the 12th-starting spot for the feature. With $5,000 on the line, Rodney Sanders slipped back to a 16th place outing in the 40-lap affair.
