March 26th, 2017 - Sanders Invades Humboldt for King of America Nationals
1On Thursday night Rodney Sanders returned behind the wheel of his Open Wheel Modified for the opening night of the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned King of America VII Modified Nationals. In a stout field of 63 cars, Sanders advanced four spots in his heat posting a 5th place finish. Transferring into the B-Main for another shot at the opening night feature, Rodney secured his spot with a 3rd place finish in the 15-lap consolation event. Rolling off 19th, Sanders was an early retiree from the 40-lap feature after failing to gain some ground.

1Running in three rounds of heat races on Friday, Sanders held his starting spot for all 10-laps in his first round logging a 5th place finish. Following a heat race win from pole position in his second round, Sanders went on to improve seven spots in his third heat to position him 4th on the starting grid for the King of America VII Modified Nationals A-Main on Saturday. Working his way into the lead by lap 9, Sanders held the top spot for the next 19 laps before surrendering the lead to Ryan Gustin. Looking to work his way back to the front in the remaining 42 circuits, Rodney slipped back to a 7th place finish.

March 19th, 2017 - Rodney Sanders Wins in Late Model in Short Track Shootout at Southern New Mexico Speedway
1Pulling double duty in the inaugural Short Track Shootout, Rodney Sanders traveled to Southern New Mexico Speedway (Las Cruces, New Mexico) on Friday night for the three-day event. Blistering down the fastest time overall in qualifying in the Late Model division, Rodney went on to capture a heat race win locking his spot into the A-Main. Wheeling his way to the front, Sanders cruised to his third victory of the season and a $1,000 payday.

1In the United States Racing Association (USRA) Modified division, Sanders improved one spot in his heat to place 3rd. Starting in 15th for the feature, Rodney advanced through the field to a solid 5th place finish.

On Saturday night starting on the pole of his Super Late Model heat race, Rodney secured his spot into the feature with another dominate heat race win. Rolling off on the pole, Sanders went on to lead every lap en route to the victory but was eventually disqualified from the race after he failed to report to post-race inspection immediately after the feature.

Coming from the 5th-starting position in his Modified heat, Sanders stormed to a heat race victory that ended up being a photo finish. Bringing home a podium spot, Rodney recorded a 3rd place finish behind Johnny Scott and Jake Gallardo with Stormy Scott and Bumper Jones completing the Top 5 finishers.

Wrapping up the Short Track Shootout on Sunday, Sanders improved six spots in his Modified heat to place 2nd. Reeling in another Top 5 finish in the feature, Rodney landed a 4th place spot.

In the Late Model division, Sanders was running in the Top 5 in the feature the whole race but was forced to pull off due to mechanical issues.

March 11th, 2017 - Sanders Wins in Final Night of Sooner Showdown at Southern OK Speedway
1 Back with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on Thursday evening, Rodney Sanders was one of 42 Open Wheel Modifieds signed in at Southern Oklahoma Speedway (Ardmore, Oklahoma) for 5th annual Sooner Showdown presented by Production Jars. Scoring a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Ricky Thornton Jr., Sanders earned the 3rd-starting position for the opening night feature. Holding his position on a track that saw very limited passing, Rodney notched a 3rd place finish behind Thornton Jr. and Ryan Gustin with Johnny Scott and Chris Brown rounding out the Top 5.

On Friday coming from the 7th-starting position in his heat race, Sanders scored a runner-up finish behind Ricky Thornton Jr. Earning the 3rd-starting position for the A-Main, Rodney was running in 2nd until suffering at flat tire on lap 29. Rejoining the field from the tail after swapping out his tire, Sanders battled back to an 18th place finish on a one-lane track.

1For the final night of the Sooner Showdown on Saturday, Sanders passed four cars in his heat race to place 2nd behind R.C. Whitwell. Rolling off on the pole after the redraw, Rodney took control of the lead on the very first lap and never looked back. Leading all 50 circuits, Rodney Sanders picked up his second victory of the season and a $4,000 payday topping Dereck Ramirez, Chris Brown, Zack VanderBeek, and Jason Hughes at the finish line. March 4th, 2017 - Rodney Sanders Wins Opening Night of Toliet Bowl Classic at Clarksville
1Hopping behind the wheel of his Deatherage Opticians #20 Super Late Model on Friday night, Rodney Sanders made the trip to Clarksville Speedway (Clarksville, Tennessee) for the two-day Toliet Bowl Classic. With 40 entries signed in for the MARS DIRTcar series season-opener, Sanders earned the pole position for the A-Main after capturing a heat race win. Jumping into the lead on the drop off the green flag, Sanders wheeled his way through lap traffic late in the race to pick up his first victory of the season and a $3,000 payday. 1On Saturday night Rodney locked his spot into the $5,000-to-win finale with another heat race win. Bringing home another podium finish, Sanders wheeled his way to a 2nd place spot behind Dennis Erb Jr. with Scott Crigler, Gordy Gundaker, and Tony Jackson Jr. completing the Top 5 finishers.
