May 28th, 2017 - Sanders Begins Show-Me 100 Weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway
1On Tuesday night Rodney Sanders invaded of I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska) for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned program. With 32 cars registered in for the inaugural Go 50, Sanders logged a 6th place finish in his heat race sending him into the B-Main for one last shot at the feature. Transferring the Top 3, Rodney grabbed the 3rd and final transfer spot positioning him 22nd on the starting grid for the A-Main. With $10,000 on the line, Rodney Sanders fell two spots in the 50-lapper recording a 24th place outing.

1Two nights later Rodney Sanders was one of 67 Super Late Models signed in at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Missouri) on Thursday for the opening night of the Show-Me 100 weekend. Falling short of a transfer spot in his heat race with a 5th place finish, Sanders transferred into the B-Main for one last shot at the Cowboy Classic A-Main. Sending the Top 2 into the feature event sanctioned by both the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) and the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA), Sanders notched a 2nd place spot behind Chase Junghans locking him into the 24th-starting position. Passing ten cars in the 45-lap affair, Rodney Sanders reeled in a 14th place finish.

The following night for the Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson, Rodney came up one position short of a transfer spot in his heat race with a 4th place finish. Transferring the Top 2 out of the B-Main and into the final $6,000-to-win preliminary feature, Sanders edged his way with a 2nd place finish behind Gregg Satterlee. Starting on the tail, Rodney charged through the field 11 positions to place 13th.

1With severe weather in the area postponing Saturday’s 25th annual Show-Me 100 to Sunday afternoon, Rodney was already locked into the $30,000-to-win finale after finishing 12th in total passing points. May 19th, 2017 - Rodney Sanders Follows USMTS to I-94 Speedway
1Piloting his Wichita Tank Racing #20 Open Wheel Modified, Rodney Sanders was one of 45 cars signed in at I-94 Speedway (Fergus Falls, Minnesota) on Friday night for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned event. Losing one spot in his 8-lap heat race, Rodney logged an 8th place finish sending him into the B-Main. Transferring the Top 5 into the 3rd annual Summersota Nationals A-Main presented by Barry Construction, Sanders edged his way with the 5th and final transfer spot. Starting in 21st for the $3,000-to-win feature, Rodney fell one position to place 22nd.

May 13th, 2017 - Sanders Visits Farley for Modified Super Weekend
1Behind the wheel of Mike Wedelstadt’s #77s Open Wheel Modified, Rodney Sanders made the trip to Farley Speedway (Farley, Iowa) on Friday for the two-day Modified Super Weekend. Following a 3rd and 7th place finish in his two heat races on Friday, Sanders transferred into the B-Main on Saturday for one last shot at the A-Main. Wheeling his way up to a 3rd place finish, Rodney locked his spot into the feature. With $50,000 on the line, Rodney Sanders registered a 30th place finish.

May 6th, 2017 - Runner-up Finish in MLRA Action at Independence Motor Speedway
1On Thursday night Rodney Sanders was one of 33 Super Late Models signed in at Lee County Speedway (Donnellson, Iowa) for the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) sanctioned contest. Recording a 4th place finish in his heat race, Sanders rolled off 16th for the opening night $3,000-to-win A-Main. Passing four cars in the 40-lapper, Rodney registered a 12th place outing.  

The following night Sanders headed to Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa) for another chance at a $3,000 payday. Falling one position short of at transfer spot in his heat with a 5th place finish, Rodney went on to capture a 12-lap consolation win locking him into the 17th-starting position for the feature. Passing nine cars, Sanders wheeled his way up to an 8th place outing.

1Wrapping up the MLRA weekend on Saturday, Sanders stopped at Independence Motor speedway (Independence, Iowa). Starting the night off with a heat race win, Rodney locked his spot into the $3,000-to-win finale. Posting a podium spot, Rodney Sanders notched a runner-up finish behind Billy Moyer with Chris Simpson, Brent Larson, and Jimmy Mars completing the Top 5 finishers. (Jeff Hall photo)
