September 23rd, 2017 - Top 5 Finish in Featherlite Fall Jamboree Opener at Deer Creek
1 Thursday found Rodney Sanders in action at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) for the opening night of the 19th annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree. Drawing a stout field of 98 Open Wheel Modifieds for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned weekend, Rodney passed five cars in his heat scoring a 2nd place finish behind Ryan Gustin. Rolling off on the pole for the $6,000-to-win A-Main, Sanders led the first 14-circuits until surrendering the top spot to Cade Dillard. Hanging on to a Top 5 finish in the remaining 25 laps, Rodney Sanders posted a 4th place finish behind Dillard, Ryan Gustin, and Lucas Schott with Brady Gerdes coming in 5th.

1On Friday night Rodney hopped behind the wheel of his Super Late Model for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series sanctioned event at Lakeside Speedway (Lakeside, Kansas). Moving up one spot in his heat, Sanders landed a 3rd place finish positioning him 7th on the starting grid for the feature. With $10,000 on the line, Rodney dropped seven spots to place 14th. 1Following the World of Outlaws on Saturday, Sanders headed to Salina Highbanks Speedway (Salina, Oklahoma) for the Bravado Wireless Green County 50. After coming in ninth fastest overall in qualifying, Rodney fell two positions in his heat logging a 5th place finish. Rolling off 15th for the main event, Sanders slipped back to a 22nd place outing in the 50-lap affair.

September 16th, 2017 - Sanders Attends Knoxville Nationals
1Rodney Sanders headed to Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa) on Thursday for the opening night of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Knoxville Nationals. After laying down the seventh fastest time in his qualifying group, Sanders recorded a 6th place finish in his heat transferring him into the B-Main for another shot at the $7,000-to-win opening night feature. Sending the Top 6 into the show, Rodney slipped back to a 19th place outing bringing an early end to his night.

The following night for another round of preliminary action, Rodney was leading his heat race until a cloud of smoke was seen flowing from his car. Limping to a 2nd place finish behind Mike Marlar, Sanders was forced to pull out his secondary car for the feature after the crew discovered his primary car blew an engine late in his heat. Rolling off on the pole, Rodney slipped back to a 16th place outing in the 25-lap affair.

September 9th, 2017 - Rodney Sanders Wins Preliminary Night at Modified Nationals
1On Thursday night Rodney Sanders traveled to Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wisconsin) for the 6th annual Dahl Auto Plaza Modified Nationals. With 40 Open Wheel Modifieds on hand, Sanders dropped five spots in his heat race logging a 9th place finish. Transferring into the B-Main for another shot at the opening night feature, Rodney secured his spot with a 5th place outing. Rolling off 23rd for the $2,000-to-win A-Main, Sanders charged through the field 14 spots reeling in a 9th place finish.

1Returning on Friday starting 6th in his heat, Rodney gained four spots notching a runner-up finish behind R.C. Whitwell. Earning the 2nd-starting position for the feature, Sanders overtook Jason Cummins on the opening lap and held off the field in the remaining 34 circuits to capture his eighth win of the season and a $3,000 payday. Cummins, Lucas Schott, Adam Hensel, and Dustin Sorensen completed the Top 5 finishers.

Wrapping up the Modified Nationals on Saturday, Sanders had already locked his spot into the $4,000-to-win finale from his performances on Thursday and Friday. Posting a Top 5 finish in the 40-lapper, Rodney landed a 5th place finish behind Dustin Sorensen, Jake Timm, R.C. Whitwell, and Lucas Schott.

September 2nd, 2017 - Sanders Records Three Runner-Up Finishes With MLRA Series
1 Kicking off the action-packed weekend in the Open Wheel Modified ranks, Rodney Sanders traveled to Kossuth County Speedway (Algona, Iowa) on Wednesday evening for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned program. Leading the night off with a heat race win, Sanders earned the 8th-starting position for the $5,000-to-win A-Main. Dropping out of the Top 10, Rodney slipped back to a 19th place outing after retiring early on lap 30.

1The following night Rodney hopped behind the wheel of his Super Late Model for the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) sanctioned contest at I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska). With 22 cars signed in for the Rock N’ Roll 40, Sanders secured his spot into the A-Main with a 10-lap heat victory. 1On Friday night Rodney was one of 19 Super Late Models signed in at Lakeside Speedway (Lakeside, Kansas) for the Clyde Ellis Memorial. After coming in 2nd in his heat behind Logan Martin, Sanders posted a 2nd place finish in the feature behind Martin with Terry Phillips, Randy Timms, and Austin Rettig completing the Top 5 finishers.

1Saturday night brought Sanders Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Missouri) for the Larry Phillips Memorial. Slipping back to a 7th place finish in his heat, Rodney earned the 22nd-starting position for the $5,575-to-win finale. Wheeling his way into a podium spot, Rodney Sanders charged through the field 20 spots in the 50-laps to place 2nd behind Randy Timms with Billy Moyer Jr., Terry Phillips, and Austin Siebert rounding out the Top 5.

1Closing out the Labor Day weekend, Sanders stopped at Monett Motor Speedway (Monett, Missouri) on Sunday for the MARS DIRTcar West Series sanctioned 4-State Dirt Track Championship. Earning the 9th-starting position for the feature via preliminary events, Sanders dropped five positions to place 14th.
