February 24, 2018 - Sanders Lands Top 5 Finish With USMTS at South Texas
1On Friday night Rodney Sanders hopped behind the wheel of his Open Wheel Modified for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) season opener at South Texas Speedway (Corpus Christi, Texas). With 26 cars on hand for the 9th annual Summit USMTS Winter Speedweeks presented by MSD Performance, Sanders started the night off with a heat race win earning him the pole position for the opening night feature. After leading the opening 35 circuits, Rodney suffered a broken drive-shaft that forced him pit-side.

1Returning on Saturday evening, Sanders landed a 2nd place finish in his heat race behind Bobby Malchus positioning him 5th on the starting grid for the $3,000-to-win A-Main. Improving one spot in the 40-lap affair, Rodney Sanders posted a 4th place finish behind Johnny Scott, Cade Dillard, and Ethan Dotson with Joe Duvall coming in 5th. (Ron Skinner photo)

Sunday’s USMTS finale at Texana Raceway Park (Edna, Texas) was wiped out by the weather.
