September 28, 2018 - Rodney Sanders Begins Race for Hope 74 at Batesville
1On Tuesday night Rodney Sanders was one of 114 IMCA Modifieds signed in at Batesville Motor Speedway (Batesville, Arkansas) for the second annual Race for Hope 74. With time trials on Tuesday setting the line-ups for heat races on Wednesday night, Sanders registered the 28th fastest time overall locking him into the 8th-starting position for his heat. Transferring only the race winner into the opening night feature, Rodney charged through the field six spots to place 2nd behind Justin Kay.

The following night, Sanders came in 2nd in his heat behind Tripp Gaylord positioning him 21st on the starting grid for the preliminary feature. Locking the Top 8 finishers into Saturday’s $20,000-to-win A-Main, Rodney dropped three spots logging a 24th place finish.

Returning on Friday evening for one final chance at the $20,000-to-win finale, Sanders passed four cars in his heat to place 4th.  Starting in 20th in his consolation event, Rodney fell short of a transfer spot with a 15th place outing.

September 22, 2018 - Sanders Crowned Featherlite Fall Jamboree Champion
1 After Mother Nature wiped out Thursday’s program, Rodney Sanders was one of 84 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entries signed in at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) on Friday night for the 20th annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree. Passing nine cars in his 12-lap heat race, Rodney reeled in a 2nd place finish behind Travis Saurer positioning him 4th on the starting grid for the opening night feature. Holding his spot for all 40-laps, Sanders scored a 4th place finish behind Johnny Scott, Stormy Scott, and Jake O’Neil with Jake Timm coming in 5th.

1Returning on Saturday night, Sanders jumped up five spots in his heat to place 2nd behind Stormy Scott. Earning the pole position for the main event, Rodney held off challenges from Ryan Gustin capturing his 11th win of the season and a $10,000 payday. September 15, 2018 - Rodney Sanders Sweeps Lakeside Weekend; Wins Jayhawk Modified Shootout
1Rodney Sanders was one of 18 USRA Modifieds signed in at Lakeside Speedway (Lakeside, Kansas) on Friday evening for the Tom Karrick Memorial Scramble. Jumping up two spots in his heat, Sanders recorded a 2nd place finish behind Darron Fuqua earning him the 5th-starting position for the scramble. Battling with Fuqua for the top spot throughout the 20-lap feature, Sanders made a last-lap pass over Fuqua registering his ninth win of the season over Kerry Davis, Fuqua, Mark Schafman, and Chad Lyle.

1The following night with his spot already locked into the Jayhawk Modified Shootout, Sanders withstood challenges throughout the 40-lap feature en-route to his tenth win of the season and a $5,000 payday. September 8, 2018 - Sanders Attends Modified Nationals at Mississippi Thunder Speedway; Bags Three Top 5 Finishes
1Thursday night found Rodney Sanders in action at Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wisconsin) for the 7th annual Dahl Auto Plaza Modified Nationals. In a field of 35 cars, Sanders recorded a 4th place finish in his heat race locking him into the 10th-starting position for the opening night feature. With $2,000 on the line, Rodney improved seven spots in the 30-lapper notching a 3rd place finish behind R.C. Whitwell and Jake Timm with Brad Waits and Ryan Gustin rounding out the Top-5 finishers.

On Friday evening, Sanders secured his spot into the $4,000-to-win A-Main with a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Jacob Bleess. After jumping out to an early lead, Rodney lost the top spot late scoring a 2nd place finish behind Ryan Gustin with Jake Timm, Brad Waits, and Lucas Schott completing the Top-5 finishers.

Wrapping up the Modified Nationals on Saturday, Rodney posted a runner-up finish in his heat behind Brad Waits positioning him 9th on the starting grid for the $6,000-to-win finale. Breaking into the Top-5, Rodney Sanders passed five cars in the 40-lap affair to place 4th behind Ryan Gustin, Jake Timm, and R.C. Whitwell with Lucas Schott coming in 5th.

September 1, 2018 - Sanders Records a Trio of Top 5 Finishes Over Labor Day Weekend
1Rodney Sanders kicked off the Labor Day Weekend on Thursday night at Rapid Speedway (Rock Rapids, Iowa) for the 10th annual Coral Lanes Rapid Rumble. Drawing 20 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entries, Sanders secured his spot into the opening night feature with an 8-lap heat race victory. Starting the feature in 6th, Rodney reeled in race-leader Johnny Scott in the final laps after he suffered a flat-tire but came up short at the line to place 2nd behind Scott with Dereck Ramirez, Terry Phillips, and Stormy Scott completing the Top-5 finishers.

The following night at Fayette County Speedway (West Union, Iowa), Rodney gained three positions in his heat race to place 3rd. Earning the 5th-starting position for the $3,000-to-win A-Main, Sanders notched a runner-up finish behind Lucas Schott with Stormy Scott, Johnny Scott, and Terry Phillips rounding out the Top-5.

On Saturday night for the 13th annual Labor Day Duel at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota), Sanders locked his spot into the main event with a 3rd place finish in his heat. Breaking into the Top-5, Rodney passed eight cars in the 40-lap affair posting a 4th place finish behind Johnny Scott, Stormy Scott, and Ryan Gustin with Lucas Schott coming in 5th.

Sunday’s USMTS sanctioned Cresco Bowl at Cresco Speedway (Cresco, Iowa) was rained out by Mother Nature.
