Mechanical issues arise in Jerry Whiteaker Memorial

Friday night found Rodney Sanders in action at South Texas Speedway (Corpus Christi, Texas) piloting the Chance McDaniel-owned No. 02 Limited Modified for the second annual Jerry Whiteaker Memorial. Drawing a stout field of 75 cars for the two-day event, Sanders jumped up two spots in first heat to finish fourth. Rolling off fifth for his second heat, Rodney was one of five cars that failed to finish the 10-lapper.

He was slated to start seventh in his heat race on Saturday but was a scratch from the 12-lap affair.
