Seventh place finish in Silver Dollar Nationals at I-80
Rodney Sanders picked back up with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on Tuesday afternoon at Southern Iowa Speedway (Oskaloosa, Iowa) for the 12th annual Summer Classic. Scoring at third place finish in his heat race, Rodney locked into the fourth-starting position for the opening night feature. Clawing forward two spots in the 25-lap affair, Sanders notched a runner-up finish behind Hunter Marriott with Tanner Mullens, Tyler Davis, and Jason Hughes rounding out the Top-5.
On Friday evening at I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Neb.) to kick off the two-day Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals, Sanders picked up an 8-lap heat race win over Zack VanderBeek, which positioned him fourth on the starting grid for the main event. With $3,000 on the line, Rodney jumped up two spots to place second behind Terry Phillips with Hunter Marriott, Jake Timm, and Jason Hughes completing the Top-5 finishers. (Todd Boyd photo)
The following night for the Silver Dollar Nationals finale, Sanders edged his way into the $3,000-to-win finale with a fifth place finish in his heat. Rolling off 15th, Rodney advanced through the field eight spots to register a seventh place outing.
