5th Place Finish in TX Spring National Finale at Big O Speedway
After Mother Nature wiped out Thursday night’s opener, Rodney Sanders followed the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) to Big O Speedway (Ennis, Texas) on Friday for the 10th annual Texas Spring Nationals. In a field of 39 cars, Sanders logged a fifth place finish in his heat race, sending him into the B-Main. Coming in third, Rodney locked into the 17th-starting position for the $3,000-to-win A-Main. Falling one spot shy of a Top-5 finish, Rodney Sanders advanced through the field 11 spots to place sixth.
Returning on Saturday afternoon for another $3,000-to-win A-Main, Rodney gained four spots in his heat to place second behind Chris Henigan. Starting on the pole, Sanders dropped four spots to register a fifth-place finish behind Hunter Marriott, Dereck Ramirez, Zack VanderBeek, and Jason Hughes.
