Rodney Sanders
Fifth-place finish in Juggernaut at Tri-State
On Friday evening, Rodney Sanders was one of 56 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entries amassed at Red Dirt Raceway (Meeker, Okla.) for the sixth annual Fallen Hero 50. After claiming the Swift Springs Fast Time Award with a 14.350-qualifying lap, Sanders recorded a fifth-place finish in his heat, sending him into the B-Main. Missing a transfer spot by one postion with a fifth-place outing, Rodney was granted a provisional into the feature. With $7,000 on the line, Rodney inched forward four spots to finish 21st.
For the eighth annual Juggernaut on Saturday at Tri-State Speedway (Pocola, Okla.), Rodney followed up a fourth-place finish in his heat with a fourth-to-first run in his B-Main. Starting the $10,000-to-win A-Main in 14th, Sanders passed nine cars in the 50-lapper to finish fifth. He trailed Jake O’Neil, Cayden Carter, Zack VanderBeek, and Dustin Sorensen to the checkers.
Rodney is currently fourth in the latest USMTS point standings.
Stopping at Mason City Motor Speedway (Mason City, Iowa) on Sunday, Rodney took part in his heat race but was an early exit from the feature.
