Following a fourth-place outing in his heat, Sanders secured his spot into the opening night feature with a consolation victory. With $10,000 on the line, Rodney gained four positions in the 40-lap affair to finish ninth.
For Friday’s Kansas City Sizzler at Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kan.), Rodney came in fifth in his heat before placing third in his B-Main. Wheeling his way into the Top-10 in the feature, Sanders passed seven cars to place 10th.
To wrap up the season with the USMTS on Saturday, Sanders rolled off on the pole for the $10,000-to-win finale via a heat race win and chased race-long Tyler Davis to the checkers in the 40-lapper. He nearly edged ahead of the leader on the final lap but fell short 0.071 seconds at the line.
Rodney finished fifth in the final USMTS point standings.
